Just 90 km from Pasto, the La Unión region has undergone a remarkable transformation. Once marked by instability and illicit trade, it has now rebuilt itself around the culture of specialty coffee—largely thanks to producers like Frank Torres.

Coming from a family with over 40 years of coffee expertise, Frank inherited a portion of Finca La Indonesia, an iconic farm in the region. A certified Q Grader, he developed his passion at a young age, first working for Starbucks' specialty coffee program, then as a green coffee buyer for several exporters and importers. This varied experience has allowed him to bring his farm to a level of innovation rare in Colombia.

Today, 90% of his farm is cultivated using organic practices, in a constant effort to preserve the soil and protect against disease. Frank is known for pushing the boundaries of fermentation and drying methods, which gives his coffees exceptional clarity and smoothness. This harvest is no exception: a bright, vibrant, and precise coffee—a true reflection of Frank's dedication.

This batch marks our first collaboration with Frank Torres, grown at 1,800 meters above sea level. After harvest, the cherries underwent a 48-hour submerged fermentation, followed by a 60-hour dry vat rest. Final drying took place on African beds over a period of 20 days, ensuring optimal stability and a clean, complex sensory profile. We owe the import of this batch to our partner Apex Coffee Imports, who made this collaboration possible.
